Catherine (Woodcock) Carbone Since receiving my scholarships from the AMCA I have done the following:
In 1984 I worked at "Canada's Wonderland" (theme park) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada singing and dancing in a show called "Solid Gold II" - singing numbers from the top ten music chart. We would do four shows a day, six days a week. I also worked again at Canada's Wonderland in 1996. There I performed in a show called "Break-a-way ll". I played a character named Muffy who was a cheer leader. She would often, throughout the show, get the audience to participate in the music.
Also in 1986 I joined a dance wedding band as the lead singer doing a small amount of percussion to fill in. With the band I have sung at various events in the Hamilton area such as wedding receptions and special occasion dances.
As a soloist performer I have sung as church weddings and funerals. I have performed for the Masons and entertained at children's Christmas and Birthday parties.
For a short while I worked for the Catholic Separate School Board as an Artist in the Classroom. There I would introduce the children to music in various forms such as ear-training, rhythm, singing action songs and through story. I also showed them the workings of my guitar and friend, "Freddy". I would tell them it (my guitar) would not play unless they sang a mighty loud "Hello".
In 1990 I married a special man, Michael Carbone, who is the drummer in my band "Vintage". On December 4, 1993 my husband and I gave birth to a baby boy named Anthony, who is now 6 and hopes he will receive the same scholarship I did.
I am still actively singing. Mostly singing with the church choir and playing guitar. I also do volunteer work at my sorority school by singing and playing guitar for the elementary students. I have been guest soloist for the Case I.H. Male Chorus three times over the last fifteen years. My Dad has sung with the chorus about thirty-five years. They were my chorus sponsors for the AMCA scholarships.
Sincerely,
Cathy Carbone
